EASY RIDER
Barbara Youtie has a "milestone birthday"

This past March the family gathered on Tallahassee Avenue to celebrate with Barbara.

A good time was had by all the Youties, Goloffs,
Segals, Gallardos, Sheldons, Niewenders  . . . . . and
much to our surprise, Stephen Edelstein came all the
way from Fort Lauderdale!
66th World Science Fiction Convention

Stephen and I attended, as we do each year.  (If you want to read Steve's views on this, see Father's Day 2006).  This year it was
in Denver, and our focus was a bit different than it had been in prior years.

Steve, who is now Editorial & Creative Director for Weird Tales Magazine, seems to be in high demand among the Convention
crowd; he was asked to be the Moderator of four panels.  He was also the host of Weird Tales 85th Anniversary Reception, which
kept him busy.

I, bizarrely, wound up being a Department Head on the Convention Committee, because I decided to organize daily strolls to get
people out for some needed exercise in the fresh air.  (How this earned me Department Head status is a mystery).  For more info
see
Stroll With The Stars.

So next year we're off to Montreal, and in 2010 it's Melbourne, Australia.
Please let me know if anyone is interested in joining Steve, Stacy, Rashmi and I.

GLEIT - WIENER FAMILY NEWS

The really big news here is, of course, the
wedding of Sarah Gleit and Jim Wiener.

The February wedding and reception were in
Manhattan, at the Ritz-Carlton in Battery Park.

The ceremony, and reception, were absolutely
beautiful.  And I must say how moving it was
to see Rabbi Gerald Wolpe perform the
marriage ceremony; I remember him doing an
equally beautiful ceremony nearly forty years
ago at Ruth and Mort's wedding.

And now I understand the
REALLY REALLY
BIG NEWS
is that Sarah and Jim are
expecting a baby girl in December.

!!Congratulations Wieners and Gleits!!!

MIKE DAVIS and wife JEAN SUSEMIHL. . . came east to visit Norman and Janet Davis in early
September.  They also took the opportunity to stay on Staten Island, and go sightseeing in New York City.

Mike and Jean came to Metuchen one evening to visit Rashmika and I.  As near as we could remember, we
hadn't seen each other since 1971 or 72, when we were in our early 20's (now Mike and I are both approaching
60).  It didn't seem the years made a difference; we were able to connect with each other just like when we were
kids.  We had a great time reminiscing, talking about motorcycles (we all 4 ride), horses, and catching up on all
the years in between.

Mike and Jean now live in Colorado Springs, with their 2 horses.  They are working on their retirement dream
home, which they hope to move into in the next couple years.  You can find a link to their emails on the "Family
Directory" page if you want to contact Mike or Jean.

STEVE and STACY SEGAL  . . . have moved to Frederick, Maryland.

Frederick is a quaint, historic town about 35 miles from the outskirts of Washington.  Since the MTA runs
commuter trains to Frederick commuting is no more difficult than from their prior home. . . . and Frederick offers
the benefit of being in a much more rural setting, so Skipper has moved to a farm much nearer to Stacy and
Steve, and everybody's much happier.
